Rock Paper Scissors
Client project with Drawing Room, working on Rock Paper Scissors - an ambitious three-year programme engaging local children, schools, teachers, and families. All projects are artist-led, exploring fun and practical uses of drawing. The program will culminate in a publication, which will be distributed to over 1000 primary schools in London!
My role in this project was creating a projected backdrop to be displayed during public workshop events and talks.
Using the assets provided from children's drawings within previous Drawing Room workshops, these were used as inspiration and either remade, drawn on top of or reworked into something brand new that reflected the nature of childlike drawing.
Below you can see the different types of drawings from the children and how I initially categorised them to use later when figuring out the composition of the backdrop
I then created two quick colour palettes combining the colours seen in the children's work whilst staying true to my design style to keep collaboration between the client and me running smoothly.

Moving on to composition design, I tested out different materials and formats of working in while keeping the childlike drawing reflected in the work.

Once I tested a few different composition styles, I settled on a less structured, more carefree one and moved on to creating moving tests to show to the clients.
To complete this project, I created a one-minute duration backdrop and put it on a loop to make different versions depending on how long they want the running time to be. In the end, there were five different versions which can be watched below.
